How
to get there:
The rough unpaved
roads are very dusty and, be warned, the dust is very sticky. The best
sort of vehicle to use is definitely a hire car.
The
only road access is from the MU-312, just after you pass Los Belones,
heading towards La Manga strip (ie east). There is a single sign
pointing to Calblanque. At the top of the slip road you turn immediately
right (across the service road) onto the dirt road whch crosses a large
field before reaching the first junction.
Maps of Calblanque tend to be a bit jumbled, with a mixture of roads, tracks and paths, but getting lost is quite good fun. Basically, at the first junction take the road to the left, to go to the salt beds and the largest beach. The road to the right takes you more into the centre of the park and two more beaches. There are several covered parking areas and wooden walkways. The peaceful beaches are one of the main
attractions - the most popular being Playa Calblanque, Playa Larga and
Playa de las Cañas. Playa Negrete is reached by
taking rough road from Playa Larga, for approximately another km.

Lying just south of La Manga and the Mar Menor on the
Costa Calida, Spain, is a rare stretch of unspoilt Mediterranean
coastline known as Calblanque. Now officially named as a Natural Park
the area is protected from the development which has spoiled so much of the
neighbouring coastline.
Calblanque is an area of exceptional beauty and tranquility with fine golden, sandy beaches and clear, sparkling waters. It stretches along 13 km of the coast and consists of beaches, peaceful coves, ancient sand dunes, stunning rock formations, beautiful walking trails naturist beaches and pine forests
Playa Negrete is reached by
taking rough road from Playa Larga, for approximately another km.
As the guide books will warn you, it is a Playa Nudista (nudist beach). So there will be naked people about, mostly Spanish, mostly couples and minding their own business.
Playa Negrete, a beautiful wide sandy beach with rocks and caves (this is a nudist beach). The Playa del Negrete, located in the Natural Park Calblanque is a virgin beach, traditionally used by nudists of Cartagena and Murcia.
